As the brand's second sedan product, the NIO ET5 generally follows the design style of the ET7. However, compared to the elegance of the ET7, the appearance style of the ET5 is more individual and sporty. The front of the car still uses the NIO family-style X-Bar front face, and the LED daytime running lights and headlight sets also continue to use split shapes.

The protruding folding angle on the front of the car is very sharp. According to the official introduction, the folding angle is close to an acute angle. It is also the smallest angle that designers can achieve within relevant national regulations. It is called Shark Nose. This design can move the airflow from the front of the car upward and to both sides of the car lights, minimizing wind resistance. In addition, the headlights on the front of the car are also designed with air guide grooves, which can sort out the airflow and further reduce wind resistance.

The side of the Weilai ET5 adopts a coupe-style body design, and the fastback shape of the rear brings more dynamics to the new car. The length, width and height of the new car are 4790×1960×1499mm, and the wheelbase is 2888mm. The larger body size in its class makes it look more stretched. The door handles are pop-up, and the ET5 will also be equipped with extremely high-end electric suction doors, and the wheels are available in 19-inch and 20-inch sizes.

NIO ET5 will be available in 9 body colors, of which Clearance Pink and Yunchu Yellow are exclusive colors for ET5, and the annual color, Aerospace Blue, will also be available on ET5.

The rear part of the NIO ET5 is extremely simple, with the overall lines of the rear window converging inward, trying to maintain a smooth curve at the rear to further reduce wind resistance. On the one hand, the "duck tail" design can stretch the airflow at the rear of the car, and also make the new car look more like a sports car. The taillight group runs through the entire rear of the car, and there is no unnecessary design, making it look simple but not simple. The trunk adopts a hatchback design, which makes it easy to store large items.

The interior of NIO ET5 is also highly similar to that of ET7. The interior of the new car is available in 6 colors, and the instrument panel and central control screen all adopt a floating design. The steering wheel of the new car also uses the latest design on the ET7, which looks extremely elegant, but I personally feel that it does not match the sporty appearance. The roof of the car is equipped with an oversized canopy, which gives people the feeling of "transparent".

One of the highlights of ET5's interior this time is PanoCinema, a panoramic digital cockpit that applies AR/VR technology. Weilai and innovative AR equipment company NREAL jointly developed exclusive AR glasses, which can project a super-large 201-inch viewing distance with a viewing distance of 6 meters. screen; it also cooperated with NOLO to develop NIO VR Glasses, which are equipped with ultra-thin Pancake optical lenses and can achieve binocular 4K display, which is absolutely unique in its class.

In terms of configuration, in addition to more than 100 standard comfort, safety and intelligent configurations, ET5 will also provide different optional packages, including the enjoyment package, including steering wheel heating, 14-way electric adjustment of the front seats (including 4 lumbar support adjustment and seat cushion extension), front seat ventilation, front seat massage, second row seat heating, intelligent fragrance system and negative ion generator, the price is 9,500 yuan. The Nappa premium interior package is 22,500 yuan, which includes Nappa perforated leather seats, Nappa leather interior covering and Microfiber super fiber velvet ceiling. The optional Microfiber ceiling is priced at RMB 6,500.

In terms of power, ET5 continues NIO's high-performance genes. The entire series adopts dual-motor four-wheel drive. The front axle is equipped with a 150kW permanent magnet synchronous motor, and the rear axle uses a 210kW asynchronous induction motor. The comprehensive system power is 360kW and the peak torque is 700N· m, the vehicle's front and rear weight distribution reaches 50:50, and it uses a five-link front and rear independent suspension, matching 8 driving modes. It only takes 4.3 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers. The energy reserve is equipped with a long-life battery pack (100kWh) with a range of more than 700 kilometers, and an ultra-long-life battery pack (150kWh) with a range of more than 1,000 kilometers.

The CLTC model equipped with a standard endurance 75kWh hybrid battery pack has a range of 550 kilometers. In the new hybrid battery pack, a mixed arrangement of ternary lithium and lithium iron phosphate cells is used. The ternary lithium battery has a higher Energy density, higher power density, and better low-temperature endurance performance, while lithium iron phosphate batteries have ultra-high cycle life and stronger thermal stability. This battery pack also adopts a new SoC estimation method, which solves the problem of excessive SoC estimation error for lithium iron phosphate batteries. The error is reduced from 10% to 3%. The ternary lithium battery will not cause SoC jump. In addition, the new battery pack also applies a new generation of CTP (Cell to Pack) technology, which increases its volume utilization by 5% and energy density by 15%.

The new car is equipped with a lidar above the front windshield and is equipped with the latest NIO autonomous driving technology NAD (NIO Autonomous Driving). It comes standard with 19 driving assistance functions. The complete functions of NAD adopt the "monthly activation, "Pay monthly" service subscription model, that is, ADaaS (AD as a Service), the service fee is 680 yuan per month, and the service will be gradually provided after completion of development verification. ET5 has also become Weilai's second pure electric car equipped with new autonomous driving technology (NT 2.0 autonomous driving platform) after ET7.

ET5 also comes standard with Aquila and NIO’s super-sensing system, and is equipped with 33 high-performance perception hardware, including 1 ultra-long-range high-precision lidar, 7 8-megapixel high-definition cameras, and 1 enhanced driver perception , 5 millimeter wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, V2X vehicle-road collaborative sensing and 2 sets of high-precision positioning units. At the same time, all series are equipped with ADAM and NIO supercomputing platform as standard, with a computing power of up to 1016TOPS, making it the most powerful mass-produced mobile computing platform to date. Aquila's powerful perception capabilities and ADAM's powerful computing power will bring easier-to-use and safer assisted driving functions.
