Trumpchi M8 is a medium and large MPV of GAC Passenger Cars.


First look at the appearance. In the front part of the car, the Leader, Master and Grandmaster are different. The Master and Grandmaster are relatively similar, both have huge one-piece grilles. The difference lies in the different grille shapes. In contrast, the Grandmaster's grille lines are thicker and more powerful, giving it a very majestic look. It is said that the meaning of the design is the "Lion of the East". At the bottom of the grille, the Grandmaster adopts a straight line shape, and the headlights are also a new design, which looks more majestic.


On the side of the car body, Grandmaster added decoration to the D-pillar. The body profile has a diagonal line starting from the front door, gradually rising, and forming a "Z" shape with the upper and lower straight lines. The front and rear door handles are integrated, which looks better than the split style of the Master Edition. In terms of size, the length, width and height are 5212×1893×1823 mm respectively, the wheelbase is 3070 mm, the curb weight is 2150/2245 kg (2.0T/2.0T hybrid), and the maximum design quality is 2790/2890 kg (2.0T/2.0T hybrid). move).


The rear end becomes very neat. First of all, the through-type taillight is a new design, which matches the body more harmoniously; secondly, the tail bar looks very "clean" with no redundant depictions, which echoes well with the grand style of the entire vehicle.


All four wheels are ventilated discs, matched with 18-inch wheels, and the tire specification is 225/55R18. The tires installed on the filming car are Michelin Haoyue 4th generation, which is a tire with good wet performance and low noise. No spare tire.


What surprised me a little was that the car logo at the center of the wheel was always positive and would not follow the rotation of the wheel. This kind of design has only been seen on Rolls-Royce before, but it is an entry-level luxury car that costs more than 5 million yuan. In the chassis part, the lower part of the front of the car is very flat, and a large guard plate fully covers the engine compartment.

The front suspension is MacPherson type, the rear suspension is multi-link type, and the exhaust pipes are dual-exit, hidden under the car, with the outlets facing the ground. Grandmaster's power is divided into 2.0T and 2.0T hybrid. The 2.0T hybrid engine model is 4B20J2, with a maximum power of 140 kW, a maximum net power of 140 kW, and a maximum torque of 330 Nm/1500-4000 rpm.


The drive motor is front-wheel drive, with a maximum power of 134 kilowatts and a maximum torque of 270 Nm. The hybrid power of this car is derived from the Julang Hybrid released by GAC Trumpchi last year. Julang hybrid is divided into two types. The first is the GMC dual-motor series-parallel hybrid system developed by GAC, and the second is the THS power split hybrid system in cooperation with Toyota. The Grandmaster hybrid version is equipped with the latter.


Matched with the engine/motor is an electronic continuously variable automatic transmission (E-CVT) with a top speed of 180 kilometers per hour. It uses No. 92 gasoline and has a combined fuel consumption of 5.42 liters per 100 kilometers (NEDC standard) and 5.91 liters (WLTC standard).


As for comfort, firstly, it is due to the suspension. The car is equipped with an electromagnetic suspension, which is soft and hard. Secondly, the noise is controlled quite well. In terms of performance, using the comfort driving mode and my regular driving style, the recorded results are: 0-100 kilometers acceleration in 8.34 seconds, 40-80 kilometers acceleration in 3.8 seconds, and 80-120 kilometers acceleration in 5.94 seconds. If you switch to sports driving mode, it might be even faster. However, for an MPV with a riding theme, it doesn’t mean much to emphasize acceleration. What this kind of car wants is comfort and safety, not racing.
